The 2009 azjure Reserve Pinot Noir by Symphony Hill

Rated 90 points by James Halliday

azjure is proud to offer guests a very special and exclusive experience – the 2009 azjure Reserve Pinot Noir, available in the studios and villa mini-bar.

This is the first vintage from azjure’s very own vineyard right by the studios and villa. It’s great to enjoy while you visit, or a wonderful way to take the essence of azjure home with you.

Made by top Ballandean winery Symphony Hill, only 64 dozen bottles were produced from the around 1,000 vines. At 35 years old, they are the oldest Pinot Noir vines in Queensland.  The vineyard was restored as part of the development of azjure.

Symphony Hill winemaker Mike Hayes (pictured) planted the vines alongside his father back in 1977. It was his first day in the wine industry, which he has been in ever since. Which is why the wine is dedicated to his father Martin.

The 2009 azjure Reserve Pinot Noir

•  Single variety, single vineyard
•  Harvested February 11 2009 at 13.5 baume
•  Aged in new French oak barrels for 10 months
•  “Bright, clear crimson, good texture and structure, positive well balanced fruit” – Halliday 2012 Wine Companion
•  Drinking well now and will develop further over 5-7 years of cellaring
